ESCREVER PARA TEATRO: O QUOTIDIANO DO HOMEM COMUM E OUTRAS COISAS SEM IMPORTÂNCIA

WORKSHOP

Following the premiere of Death of a Salesman, in 1949, Arthur Miller published the essay Tragedy and the Common Man, which reclaims the dignity of the common man and its anonymous and banal life, placing it in the centre of the tragic vertigo. This action gave rise to a new type of hero in the field of drama in the second half of the 20th century: the dishevelled, the marginal, the rebel without a cause and the nobody.
In this sense, this momentum will bring the everyday life, the insignificant and the ordinary to stage, leading us away from the tragic stories, allowing us the testimony and the narration of the epopee of human life.
Starting from this idea, Rui Pina Coelho will mentor a writing workshop for theatre, which at first will be of an exhibiting and theoretical character, pursuing the critical exploration of the proposed thematic concept. The second moment will be based on the analysis of excerpts from dramatic texts and writing exercises.
