The years 2020 and 2021 will be forever etched in our memory as difficult years. In the artistic sector, these were years of instability and numerous uncertainties, which left their mark. Although the normal functioning of Teatro Viriato was also affected, we tried, side by side, with the artists to find solutions, imagine future scenarios and encourage alternatives, so that artistic creation could continue to be developed. During these two years of pandemic, 17 Portuguese artists had the opportunity to premiere their works at Teatro Viriato.
Carlos Fernandes and Raquel Balsa, the official photographers of Teatro Viriato, eternalized these unique journeys, and compiled these moments of resilience experienced by the artists, the teams and the public, in two exhibitions "Memória Futura I" ("Future Memory I") and "Memória Futura II" ("Future Memory II"). After having passed by the Temporary Gallery at Palácio do Gelo Shopping, it is now the time for the foyer to receive these exhibitions. Because we want to continue to nurture hope in a better tomorrow.
