Two years separate "Versa-vice" from a piece that Tânia Carvalho premiered in Marseille, in 2020, titled "Onironauta". Back then, there were seven dancers up on stage. A number that, as often happens in Tânia Carvalho's oeuvre, defines the tone, equates to an intention. This new work could have been called "Oneirofrenia". An extremely suggestive title that, associated with the number twelve, would promptly evoke, to all knowledgeable in the Tarot de Marsaille, the card known as The Hanged Man (XII), carrying with it an unequivocal meaning: isolation and disease. On the other hand, the actual title of this new piece, "Versa-vice", sounds like the promise of a painting that, when painted upside down, surpasses its theme: because if there are only white hats, the universe turns vitiated, insalubrious. As always, Tânia Carvalho, upside down.
