“A VIAGEM” problematizes the way in which popular manifestations adhere and reach for modernity, originating new meanings and a new appropriation and understanding of their role in the present. Confronting the living legacy of folk dances with contemporary dance, Filipa Francisco deepens her reflection on art’s social and political dimension, taking her artistic endeavours into spaces and idioms that raise the possibility of touching audiences.
Ten years ago, this show premiered on Teatro Viriato and now returns to that same stage, renewing its unique exploration of tradition and modernity through dance.
