The story of Catarina Eufémia is not one of castles and princesses, journeys to kingdoms far, far away, nor one of creatures unimaginable. It’s the story of peasants working from dusk till dawn, sowing and reaping the wheat that will later be taken from their hands. It’s a story of injustice, but also resistance. Catarina is this story’s heroine – she lived a hard life and yet retained her joy and the will to fight for a better world. She lived and died in the region of Alentejo, facing the powerful with a perpetual song in her voice. “Antiprincesas” is a cycle of shows about women that left their mark in history, real-life heroines that challenged the status quo and revolutionized the world through art, literature or politics.
