Carminho, world-renowned fado singer, steps for the very first time onto Teatro Viriato’s stage, bringing her latest album, “Portuguesa”, with her. This latest offering, produced by the artist herself, is the sixth album of her career and includes 14 tracks, including some original fado songs written in the traditional style of the genre.
In an attempt to deepen her understanding of the inner workings of fado music, Carminho explores several different combinations of its canonically accepted characteristics, rethinking them and flowing through the process with the ease of a fish in water.
Her work was recognized with a nomination for a Latin Grammy in the Best Portuguese Language Roots Album category, as well as two nominations for the Prémios Play in the Record of the Year and Best Female Performer categories. These acknowledgments solidify her status as an incomparable artist, known for her unmistakable vocals, talent, songwriting and unshakable dedication to her craft.
