Parlapatório, is a word that means to talk or to gossip, it shares the same root as the word Parliament, a place where one talks, converses, discusses. Parliament is also a space where, traditionally, big decisions are made and where contrasting political ideologies confront each other. Today, if we listen to what is being said in Parliament, it is possible to ascertain that they use a lexicon quite similar to that of theatre: "the political actors", "that law is nothing more than a staged farce". But the truth is that, if we look around us, we can see the similarities between the architecture of that room and that of a stage hall. Throughout this workshop, we will use the tools of theatre to discover politics. Sara Barros Leitão will challenge participants to approach the mechanisms of Portuguese democracy through theatrical exercises, discussing some of the subjects debated in Parliament in the last fifty years. This workshop was born from the creation process for "Guia para um país possível", a play co-produced by Teatro Viriato.
