Regenerar

Inauguration on the 13th of January, at 8.30pm. Exceptionally, for that event a ticket is required (€5) that will also allow entrance to that evening’s show (WARM-UP). 

Autotomy. A self-defence behaviour that certain animals display, whereby they, whenever sensing danger, voluntarily, sever their tail. However, with each severing, the tail grows shorter. The appendage sheds and becomes its own thing, sprawled on the field like a mantle of water which, by the end of the day, reflects the sky. There it remains day after day. It doesn’t know how to be whole, nor can it return to be a part among other parts. If only we could also do this without hurt.  

With “Regenerar”, visual artist Liliana Velho brings us a reflection on the body as territory of transformation. A body that crumbles and rebuilds, between loss and metamorphosis, opening up to reinvention and desire.   

Through the medium of mended ceramic hearts, fragmented and intertwined with natural elements, this installation summons matter, memory and affection to serve as possible avenues of regeneration.
